about
Mended Made is run by queer, working class artist Ed Hall. Based on the North East coast of England, they are a trained book binder and independent workshop facilitator with a background in making art around the themes of identity and sexuality as it applies to gender non-conforming working class people.
Their latest project sees them make hand bound books backed with reclaimed cloth from discarded men's shirts. Originally an exploration of feelings around recent anti-trans legislation within the UK, the project has shifted to become a commercially viable collection of goods, available directly from the artist and from independent retailers throughout the country.
Alongside their teaching and bookbinding practice, they run Tender ‘Art Club: a monthly analogue postal subscription providing an insight into their rich inner world. Subscribers receive original artwork, writing, and research each month, giving the artist a way to consistently share work at a more financially accessible rate for a wider variety of people.
